You can take CAD parts that you’ve reconstructed in Backflip and build them directly in Fusion though the Backflip add-in. Parts rebuilt in Fusion are created using native Fusion features and include a full Design History, Fusion’s version of a CAD feature tree.

Before you rebuild a CAD part in Fusion, you will need to reconstruct a 3D scan or other mesh file in Backflip. You can do this in our web app or directly in our Fusion add-in.

To create a part in Fusion with Backflip:

  1. Find the part you want to build in Fusion in the Backflip add-in. Open up Fusion, start the Backflip plugin and login if necessary (see here for instructions installing the Backflip plugin). Navigate through your parts library to the part you want to build in Fusion.

The part will be rebuilt in Fusion using native CAD features according to the neutral feature tree ‘recipe’ that Backflip’s AI model generated. You can then edit any existing features within Fusion’s Design History timeline at the bottom left of your screen, or continue to work with the rebuilt part and add features as normal in Fusion.
